You will find a variety of bike lubricants on the internet and in stores. You never know what kind of route you’ll encounter, whether you are racing or just walking around the block. You might encounter pebbles, mounds of dust, or even a construction site. If your bike chain lubricant has poor quality, it might wash off in the rain.

WD-40, a bike lubricant, is ideal because it can be used in any weather condition. A lubricant that does everything is good for protecting your chain, but a formulated one does better. You can pick the most appropriate lubricant for your bicycle’s route. This will help you keep your bicycle in top shape.

WHAT DOES A BIKE CHAIN LUBRICANT DO?

Only internal parts like the chainplates, rollers, and pins, as well as the sprockets, derailleur, and rollers, must be lubricated by a bike chain lubricant. The lubricant must penetrate to the tiny areas, so it should be thick enough to last longer and thin enough to absorb easily by the parts. For bikes, thicker lubricants won’t work.

Remember to use the lube sparingly to prolong the life of your drivetrain. There are two types of bicycle lubricants: general cleaners and degreasers. These cleaners have different purposes, but both are useful in keeping the bike clean.

Let’s first discuss the three types of bike chain lubricants WD-40 provides. Next, let’s look at the two other bike cleaners they offer.

WD-40 BIKE CLEANER

Dish soap and water is no longer effective for cleaning a bike. Dish soap can strip your bike of its last lubricant and leave it unprotected. The WD-40 bike cleaner can remove stubborn dirt from your bike’s frame. You can hose off any dirt or mud, then spray the WD-40 bike cleaner on the area. Could you wait a few minutes until it loosens? Then, spray the bike with WD-40 Bike Cleaner and hose it off. Spray generously on corners to clean them. Next, scrub the area with a brush. Finally, wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Repeat if necessary.

WD-40 BIKE DEGREASER

The WD-40 bike cleaner can be used to remove even the most stubborn stains. It can be used on derailleurs, cog sets, and chainsets. It works the same as the cleaner. The degreaser cleans and leaves no residue. It increases the bike’s efficiency, protects against dust, and prevents them from getting too dirty (once lubricated).

While visible parts of the bike can be cleaned easily, cleaning the chainrings or cogs will require a sprocket and a chain cleaning claw brush. Split cable stops are another tool that can be used to clean the cable.

BIKE CHAIN LUBRICANTS

There are generally two types of bike lubricant: dry and wet. WD-40 has now introduced the “All Conditions Lube” to allow people to ride their bikes in any weather condition on different routes. Here are the uses for each of these lubricants.

WD-40 BIKE DRY LUBE

Dry lubricants don’t attract much dust and grit. The lube should be used frequently as it can dry quickly. Velvex Dry lube makes the bike’s chain cleaner. It increases the efficiency of the chain and penetrates deeply into all parts. It can be used on derailleurs, sprockets, and chains. Use a generous amount of bike chain lubricant to coat the chain. Then, turn the cranks back.
