The first app of its sort in the world, developed by Richie Commins, 23, of Claregalway, Co. Galway, allows users to hail and pay for a taxi without having a phone, credit card, or cash on them.

‘Flag’ asks users to submit a photo ID and a personal code to their account, which is then connected to their debit or credit card. If the person’s phone dies, they may simply call a cab and have the driver enter their four-digit code, validating their identification and capacity to pay the fee.

The flag was inspired by a similar student taxi app called Dash, which Richie created during his last year of Business Information Studies at NUI Galway.

It’s Very Similar To The Prototype App “Dash” Says Richie Commins.

The concept for Flag was conceived while marketing Dash on campuses around Ireland. Richie states in an interview, “We started talking to a man named George Grama, who had helped design two really successful taxi applications in Eastern Europe and the US and who had expertise directing a team of programmers.

“We decided to bring in his skills and create a full-fledged taxi app using considerably more complicated software.”

The flag allows users to hail or ‘Flag’ a taxi using the app in the same way that other applications do, but it also guarantees that drivers are paid if customers do not have cash, a credit card, or a phone. Your photo displays on the driver’s phone, and you may pay even if you don’t have any cash on you.

Therefore, we refer to it as the “wallet-less function.”

The Reliable Backing And Constant Support From AIB, The Irish Taxi Driver’s Federation

Richie commins has thus far received support from An Garda Siochana, AIB, Nissan, Enterprise Ireland, Nissan, the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation, and Nissan. A Federation director named James Maguire said: “We were quite impressed with the software since it not only functions effectively but also enables drivers to pick up passengers who could be in an awful circumstance.”

We are thrilled to endorse the app since it allows us to provide that level of assistance to both drivers and passengers. A 24-hour support line has been established to handle driver registration and questions. Drivers may also text us their addresses, and we will send them their information packet the next day.

Easing Both Drivers’ And Passengers’ Transportation Complexities

It is wonderful to have the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation on board since it allows drivers to pick up car stickers by stopping by their office. But the choice to let them use the app for free for a few months so they may be pleased with how well it functions is the greatest strategy for us in collecting so many drivers before launch. While drivers have been our major focus, passengers have been downloading the app in record numbers, so we can’t wait to make it more functional and full of innovative features backed by cutting-edge technology.
